Throughout the last year, USF’s membership in the Association of American Universities has become a springboard to an array of benefits. From the successful recruitment and retention of world-class faculty and students to more corporations and community organizations inquiring and establishing new partnerships with the university – AAU membership is fueling USF’s momentum in significant ways.
Student Success
The U.S. Department of Defense challenged the country’s top cybersecurity minds in a skills competition. CyberHerd team captain and computer science and engineering student Waseem Albaba came out on top, defeating 3,000 competitors.
Research
With a $3.3 million grant from the National Institutes of Health, the project promises to unveil the mysteries of how the brain is wired, offering hope for improved disease and injury treatments.
USF’s historic invitation to join the Association of American Universities has taken what many in Tampa Bay have once considered a “best-kept secret” to an unprecedented new level. Being an AAU member is a tremendous milestone for USF as it formalizes USF's position as a leading research university. USF is the first public university in Florida to be invited to join the AAU in nearly 40 years and is now one of only two institutions from the State University System of Florida to serve as an AAU member.
