The David C. Anchin Center for the Advancement of Teaching is excited to welcome Ashley Booth as the new Administrative Specialist. In this role, Ashley will provide support in professional development, grant funded projects, and all administrative tasks.

We recently sat down with Ashley to discuss her background and experiences that will help shape her work forward with the Anchin Center.

What professional experiences led you to the Anchin Center?
For the last six years, while finishing my undergraduate degree from the University of South Florida, I have been proud to work at the Hillsborough Out of School Time (HOST) program. Working at HOST allowed me to interact with students, families and school site administrators in providing great educational opportunities in a safe learning environment after school. I also come from a family of teachers and I am excited to join the Anchin Center to continue my work supporting the greater educational community.

What is your proudest career moment and why?
I pride myself on my ability to create powerful and meaningful relationships with stakeholders. Relationship building with students, famililies, and the community has always been an important part of my life and aspirations for my career.

What is a goal you’ve set for yourself on which you’re still working?
I am working on expanding my professional network through in-person collaborations, social media, and ongoing relationship building through HOST. I am excited to work with faculty in the College of Education at USF and partner with school districts in service of kids.

Where would we find you on a typical weekend?
I am lucky to be the daughter of a retired police officer and a current Hillsborough County public elementary school principal. On the weekends both of them like to wrangle me into their craft projects, which I secretly love.
