The announcements were made at the CyberBay conference, a new initiative to combine
technology, academic, government and military sectors in a shared mission to drive
Tampa Bay’s evolution as the nation’s leader in the convergence of cybersecurity,
artificial intelligence and national security.
Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers Super Bowl champion Martin “Automatica” Gramatica is now
channeling his trademark passion into fatherhood, nervously watching his son, University
of South Florida kicker Nico Gramatica, follow in his legendary footsteps.
The Tampa Bay community is invited to join students, alumni, faculty and staff for
the festivities, which include a kickoff event, parade and the USF football game on
Saturday, Oct. 18, when the Bulls take on the Florida Atlantic Owls at Raymond James
Stadium.
USF’s historic invitation to join the Association of American Universities has taken
what many in Tampa Bay have once considered a “best-kept secret” to an unprecedented
new level. Being an AAU member is a tremendous milestone for USF as it formalizes
USF's position as a leading research university. USF is the first public university
in Florida to be invited to join the AAU in nearly 40 years and is now one of only
two institutions from the State University System of Florida to serve as an AAU member.
More than 1,000 people attended CyberBay 2025, many from outside of Florida, to explore
Tampa Bay’s emergence as a national hub for cybersecurity, artificial intelligence
and national security.
The University of South Florida’s Herd of Thunder marching band brought the green
and gold to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers halftime show on Sunday, Oct. 12. The performance
featured 348 student musicians and field formations at Raymond James Stadium as they
performed an energetic Motown-inspired musical arrangement.
