Col. Emilio Gonzalez, Ph.D., BA, ‘77
Emilio Gonzalez is a graduate of the University of South Florida. He is currently working as the City Manager and Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Miami, where he leads day to day operations of the largest city in the state of Florida. Prior to this, he has worked for the Miami Dade Aviation Department, where he was the Aviation Director and Chief Executive Officer. Gonzalez has also worked within the Department of Homeland Security, National Security Council, United States Embassy, and the United States Military Academy.
In 2018, Gonzalez was given the title of Power Leader of South Florida, by the South Florida Business Journal. Some of his other recognitions include: Keeper of the American Dream Award (National Immigration Forum-2016), the Distinguished Service Award (Department of Homeland Security-2008), and the White House Presidential Service Badge.
