19 new students welcomed into Dean’s Student Leadership Society
The USF College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) welcomed 19 new members to the Dean’s Student Leadership Society (DSLS). DSLS students are chosen for their superior leadership skills, often serving as volunteer coordinators, executive board members, or critical points of contact on behalf of CAS. DSLS also provides students with mentorship opportunities, professional development workshops, and year-round networking.

‘The Lesson Is Murder’: USF criminologist and graduate students debut true crime docuseries on Hulu
A new true crime docuseries, “The Lesson Is Murder,” follows University of South Florida criminology Associate Professor Bryanna Fox and her five graduate students as they show the reality of how researchers analyze convicted murderers’ personality traits and motives to develop psychological profiles. Dr. Fox is cofounder of the USF College of Arts and Sciences Center for Justice Research and Policy.

The United Nations (UN) Security Council adopted a resolution condemning the starving of civilians as a method of warfare in 2018—as well as the unlawful denial of humanitarian access to civilian populations—with members welcoming it as a landmark expression of unity on those critical issues.

USF Tampa campus adds 44 new trees in honor of Arbor Day
The USF Tree Committee, which is comprised of USF faculty, staff, students, and volunteers from the City of Tampa, Hillsborough County, the city of Temple Terrace, Tampa Electric (TECO), and Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful, hosted a tree planting ceremony on March 28i n honor of Arbor Day (April 28).

Chemistry students practice presentation skills at Castle Conference
The USF College of Arts and Sciences Department of Chemistry held its annual Raymond N. Castle Student Research Conference in early March. The conference, which is organized largely by students, showcases both undergraduate and graduate student research with the intent for “young scientists to develop the necessary communication skills to excel in the future.”
