Rhetoric professor recognized with national award on the philosophy of communication
Dr. Nathan Johnson, an associate professor in the Department of English at the University of South Florida College of Arts and Sciences, was recognized with the National Communication Association’s 2022 Distinguished Book Award for the Philosophy of Communication Division. The Philosophy of Communication Division recognizes philosophical works that better illuminate human communication.

Dr. Julia Koets earns national creative writing fellowship
Dr. Julia Koets, an assistant professor of creative writing in the USF College of Arts and Sciences Department of English, is one of 36 writers from across the nation selected to receive a 2023 Creative Writing Fellowship of $25,000 from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA)—one of the largest funders of the arts and arts education established by Congress since 1965.

USF Women’s and Gender Studies program celebrates 50 years
The 1960s was a rousing time for women. It saw the introduction of the first contraceptive pill, the passage of the Equal Pay Act, as well as the passage of the Civil Rights Act. But, despite the progress made during the 1960s, there still wasn’t equal opportunity across the spectrum, particularly for women at higher education institutions.
