Miyoung Chong is an assistant professor at the Department of Journalism and Digital Communication at USF. Her research centers on the intersections of information, minority, and power in digital, social, and news media settings with a critical informatics approach. Her larger body of research is characterized by computational social science and applied data science to investigate digital media and online community engagement. Her publication venues include Government Information Quarterly (GIQ), Journal of Medical Internet Research (JMIR), and Journal of Business Anthropology. She wrote a book chapter titled with “Social Media Analytics” and received the SIG SM research award (runner-up) at the 2021 Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T) Annual Meeting. 

Dr. Jianing Li is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication at the University of South Florida. Her research examines how people consume and process information in the digital media age using computational and quantitative methods. Dr. Li’s work has been published in peer-reviewed journals including Journal of Communication, Human Communication Research, Political Communication, Mass Communication and Society, and Social Media + Society. 

Joshua M. Scacco (PhD, University of Texas at Austin) is an Associate Professor and Associate Chair of the Department of Communication at the University of South Florida. Dr. Scacco also serves as a Faculty Researcher with the USF-Nielsen Sunshine State Survey and is a Faculty Research Associate with the award-winning Center for Media Engagement at the University of Texas at Austin. He specializes in political communication, media content and effects, and quantitative research methods. He is the coauthor, with Kevin Coe, of the book The Ubiquitous Presidency: Presidential Communication and Digital Democracy in Tumultuous Times (Oxford University Press). In addition to research publications in communication, journalism, and political science journals, Dr. Scacco has applied his research in partnerships with the U.S. Department of State, news outlets and journalism nonprofits, and local governments. His perspectives also have been featured in The Washington Post, The Guardian, Newsweek, Slate, national and local podcasts, and local news outlets throughout Florida.
