BIOGRAPHY
Ken Cissna is emeritus professor of communication at the University of South Florida. He joined the department in 1979 and served as department chair from 2006 to his retirement at the end of 2012. His books on dialogue—with Rob Anderson—include The Reach of Dialogue (also with Ron Arnett), The Martin Buber – Carl Rogers Dialogue: A New Transcript with Commentary, and Moments of Meeting: Buber, Rogers, and the Potential for Public Dialogue. He received the 2008 Gerald M. Phillips Award for Distinguished Applied Communication Scholarship from the National Communication Association and the 2013 Distinguished Service Award from the University of South Florida. He was elected president of the Southern States Communication Association and the Florida Communication, and served as editor of the Journal of Applied Communication Research, Southern Communication Journal, and Qualitative Communication Research.
