USF School of Information launches the "Libraries Build Communities" initiative – a collaboration between the University of South Florida School of Information's Responsive Librarianship Lab (RLL) and the Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library. This project was funded under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Florida’s LSTA program is administered by the Department of State’s Division of Library and Information Services.
This project offers weekly programs in collaboration with our community partners to help improve the lives of those who live in our community. Services are delivered through evidence-based reading lists, online book clubs, and community-based library programming. Programming is guided by monthly themes to address the individual needs of each community.
Story Strong programming also features an interdisciplinary partnership between librarians and social workers. The Responsive Librarianship Lab partners with the USF School of Social Work to connect program participants to additional community resources in response to their unique needs.
