School of Information Student's Publish Article in The International Association for Counterterrorism & Security Professionals Journal

Jordan Bentivenga and Syler Vaden, current Intelligence Studies graduate students with the School of Information, had the incredible opportunity to publish an article in The International Association for Counterterrorism & Security Professionals Journal. Both students are also Junior Research Associates at Security Management International, LLC.

Syler Vaden is a graduate student in the Intelligence Studies program in the School of Information. Vaden has a B.A in Applied Linguistics from USF, and after completing his degree, plans to work as an analyst in the Intelligence Community. In his time as a Junior Research Associate with Security Management International, he has conducted multiple OSINT investigations, and earned a certification in the CARVER Threat Assessment Methodology. Vaden is an IC-CAE Scholar was selected by the ODNI to attend the IC-CAE Summer Seminar in Washington DC this July. 

Jordan Bentivenga served six years in the Army conducting reconnaissance and serving as squad leader. He is the President of the SALUTE (USF chapter) Veterans Honor Society and a member of the Intelligence Community Center of Academic Education Scholar Society and the Military & Cyber Professional Association. Jordan possesses an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science. He is completing two graduate degrees, an MSIS concentration in Strategic Intelligence (Fall 2024) and an MPH in Global Disaster Management/Humanitarian Relief/Homeland Security (Summer 2025). 

Bentivenga is presently a Junior Research Associate Intern with Security Management International and published an article in the latest issue of the Journal of Counterterrorism and Homeland Defense. Jordan is a Graduate Research Associate working on publications on the 2024 election Cyber/ Intelligence Report, Critical Infrastructure, and ransomware report with USF, FDLE, and Cyber Florida. Jordan is also assisting Cyber Florida for the Director of Florida Emergency Management and FDLE on a Florida Emergency Management operation project on cyber and intelligence. He is certified in the CARVER Methodology. While Interning with SMI he has also conducted multiple OSINT investigations and a Counter Surveillance operation training project for a federal agency in DC for two protection detail teams. 

Their article titled, “Strategic Shift: Iran’s Middle Eastern Dominance and American Security Concerns”, once published, will be found on IACSP Journal site here. In the article, Bentivenga and Vaden interviewed USF professor Dr. Arman Mahmoudian about “Iran’s Middle East Dominance and America’s Strategic Shift”.
