Dr. Shaunesse’ Jacobs Plaisimond is Assistant Professor of Religion and Health at the University of South Florida. Interested in ways that personhood can inform healthcare decision-making, Dr. JP’s research takes an intersectional and interdisciplinary approach (e.g., feminist theology, bioethics, religious ethics, international human rights law) to address the multifaceted dimensions of health, most specifically person-centered health policy and clinical praxis for birthing people. She has held research fellowships with Boston University’s Institute for Health System Innovation and Policy, The Center for Mind and Culture, Harvard Kennedy School Rappaport Institute for Greater Boston, and the National Maternal Health Research Network. Beyond academia, she is deeply committed to strengthening health rights, education, and policy.
