Bio
Barb Howe graduated from USF with a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature before pursuing a career in human rights. She spent a year on a violence reduction project in rural Colombia in 2003-2004, did an internship with Habitat for Humanity in Chile, got a MA in International Relations from UF in 2006 and then worked in communications for nonprofits in Washington DC for seven years. Looking to expand opportunities for doing more in-depth writing and research, she has returned to USF to get a PhD in Politics and International Affairs. She is interested in studying the rise of anti-democratic regimes and ways to better promote democracy and human rights.
