Bio
Barb Howe graduated from USF with a bachelor's degree in English literature then got an MA in International Relations from the University of Florida before pursuing a career in political communications. Looking to expand opportunities for doing more in-depth writing and research, she has returned to USF to get a PhD in Politics and International Affairs. Her dissertation is on the Propaganda and Strategic Narratives of Great Power States and her two fields of specialty are International Relations and Political Theory. She has taught INR 2002: Intro to International Relations and a special topics political theory class POT 4936: Democracy and Propaganda. Her research interests include democratic backsliding, rising authoritarianism, and the role of political communication and information technologies in both of those. She also writes on the related phenomena of populism, polarization and political extremism.
