Bio
Jongseok Woo is an associate professor of political science at the University of South Florida. He specializes in Asia-Pacific security, military politics, and political corruption. He has authored a book titled Security Challenges and Military Politics in East Asia: From State Building to Post-Democratization (Bloomsbury, 2011; translated into Chinese), and co-authored two books: Politics in North and South Korea: Political Development, Economy, and Foreign Relations (Routledge, 2018), and Political Corruption and Democratic Governance (Lexington/Rowman & Littlefield, 2018). His work has appeared in Contemporary Politics, Pacific Focus, International Journal of Comparative Sociology, Communist and Post-Communist Studies, Korea Observer, Japanese Journal of Political Science, Issues & Studies, Journal of Military and Strategic Studies, and Problems of Post-Communism. At USF, he teaches graduate and undergraduate courses on international security, Asia-Pacific security, military politics, East Asian politics, and Korean politics.
