bio
Manu Samnotra is an Associate Professor of Political Theory at the University of South Florida. His research explores questions of dignity, the role of emotions in public life, and the ethics of political action. He is the author of Worldly Shame: Ethos in Action, which examines how shame can foster a sense of responsibility and belonging through Hannah Arendt's reflections on political action. Worldly Shame has been widely reviewed in leading journals such as Contemporary Political Theory, Arendt Studies, Perspectives on Politics, and The Review of Politics. His scholarship has appeared in journals such as Constellations, Contemporary Political Theory, and Theory & Event. Dr. Samnotra’s current book project investigates traditions of dignity, bringing Mahatma Gandhi’s thought into conversation with questions of care, service, and sacrifice. His work highlights how these values can inspire renewed commitment to community, strengthen civic responsibility, and address the moral challenges of modern technological life.
