Bio
I am an Associate Professor of Politics at the University of South Florida. At USF, I teach courses on Social Movements, Europe, Politics of Development, Global Political Economy, and Marxism, as well as the “Germany Beyond the Classroom” study abroad program through the Honors College. My research focuses on social movement & contentious politics, capitalism & class, media & technology and has been published in various peer reviewed journals such as South Atlantic Quarterly, Globalizations, New Media & Society, Rethinking Marxism, New Political Science, Social Movement Studies, or Transforming Anthropology. I have also been the co-editor of “The Great Refusal: Herbert Marcuse and Contemporary Social Movements” (Temple University Press, 2017) and “The New Global Politics: Global Social Movements in the 21st Century” (Routledge, 2017) and my research has been funded by the University of South Florida, the Miami-Florida European Union Center of Excellence at Florida International University, the Social Science Research Council, the International Studies Association, and the University of Pennsylvania.
I am on the International Spokes-Council & Editorial Collective (North America) of "Interface: Journal For and About Social Movements”; open access at: http://interefacejournal.net/ and serve as the faculty advisor for USF’s Young Democratic Socialists of America chapter
