Victor Peppard received a Ph.D. in Slavic Languages and Literatures from the University of Michigan in 1974. He taught Russian at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia in 1973 and 1974 and has taught Russian at the University of South Florida in Tampa since 1975 where he was Chair of World Languages from 2000 to 2011.
Dr. Peppard has published on Russian language pedagogy and on such writers as Isaak Babel’, Gogol', Dostoevsky, Norman Mailer, Nabokov, Solzhenitsyn, Yury Olesha, Vladimir Voinovich, and Evgenii Zamyatin as well as on the history of Russian and Soviet sport. He has also published several short stories
