Adriana Pablos is an architect, assistant professor at USF School of Architecture & Community Design, and principal of the design practice Office for Adaptation. She holds a bachelor's and a master's in architecture from the Technical University of Madrid and a master's in design studies from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. with a thesis entitled A glocal phenomenon: Urban Evolution through Housing Adaptation.
Pablos develops architectural and urban regenerative approaches to improve cities' adaptability and resilience with a particular focus on housing. Her work on adaptation and reuse has received international recognition and support, including La Caixa Foundation full-ride Scholarship supporting two-year research in North America, Harvard's Joint Center for Housing Studies research grant (2020), Harvard Annual Research and Development Award in Urbanism, Landscape, and Ecology (2020), the pan-European Future Architecture Platform Emerging Designers award (2017), and the Intervention in Urban Heritage award (2015) by the Official Chamber of Architects of Madrid.
Office for Adaptation produces innovative spatial solutions and research projects to promote beneficial relationships between communities and urban landscapes over long-term and ever-changing scenarios. The office is developing residential projects and a forthcoming book. Before founding her office, Pablos practiced next to Estudio Entresitio, Ruiz-Larrea & Asociados, Cano y Escario Arquitectura, and Luca Selva Architekten.
Pablos joins the University of South Florida after teaching at Wentworth Institute of Technology, University of Virginia, Technical University of Madrid, and CANactions School for Urban Studies (Kyiv). She has lectured across Spain, Slovenia, Ukraine, the United States, France, and Brazil. Her work has been exhibited at the XIV and XVIII Venice Architecture Biennale, the Druker Design and GSD Kirkland Galleries at Harvard University, and Matadero de Madrid. Pablos strives to advance the design field by bringing together practice, teaching, and research.
