USF Muma College of Business ranked ninth nationally for veterans

TAMPA, MARCH 10, 2014 – For military veterans seeking a business education, the University of South Florida Muma College of Business is now among the top 10 programs for veterans in the nation.

Today, Military Times announced that USF is No. 9 in its second annual "Best for Vets: Business Schools 2014" rankings – the only Florida school in the top 10. The rankings are based on academic quality, outcomes and policies, school culture, student support, and cost. In 2012, Military Times also ranked the whole of USF fourth among the country's most veteran-friendly colleges.

"USF's Muma College of Business is committed to providing a top education to all our students, and we are especially proud to have an atmosphere that welcomes veterans and helps them succeed," said Moez Limayem, dean of the dually accredited AACSB business school. "I hope this ranking shows servicemen and women in Tampa, across the country, and throughout the world that USF is a great place for them to gain skills that will foster their professional growth in the military or the business world."

Military Times, an organization comprising Army Times, Navy Times, Air Force Times and Marine Corps Times, conducted a nearly 80-question survey focused on culture and curriculum that caters to military veterans to determine the rankings. "Best for Vets: Business Schools" is an editorially independent news project that evaluates the many factors that make an institution a good fit for military veterans, according to Amanda Miller, editor of Military Times EDGE magazine.

The top business schools are compared in the issues of Army Times, Navy Times, Air Force Times and Marine Corps Times on newsstands this week.

The Military Times ranking is just one of many recent veteran-specific recognitions at USF, including:

• USF ranks in the top 15 percent of all colleges, universities and trade schools nationwide as a Military Friendly School®, as named by G.I. Jobs magazine.
