Alumni Spotlight - Dr. Siviero Agazzi
One could say Dr. Siviero Agazzi embodies success. He is the medical director of the
Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit at Tampa General Hospital and the director of Neuro-Trauma.
He is an attending neurosurgeon and an associate professor
at USF. Still, the 2010 College of Business alumnus felt he was missing something
important: a business degree.
"I realized that in any leadership role in the medical field, you are surrounded by
health care managers, and you have to understand how they think, their thought processes
as
business people. It's one thing to give your medical opinion, but it's another to
have the knowledge to understand the implications of your decisions as an administrative
official,"
Dr. Agazzi explained.
Dr. Agazzi, who said attending the College of Business' Executive MBA program 'was
the best thing I did since medical school,' had several options when it came to choosing
a school but decided on USF because of its Association to Advance Collegiate Schools
of Business accreditation.
"I wanted to do my studies at a large university with a vibrant environment and where research was taking place," Dr. Agazzi said. "The curriculum was perfect, and it was challenging. The professors were really fantastic, not only for their knowledge and ability to interact with students, but for their availability to students outside the classroom. The Executive MBA program far exceeded my expectations."
