Jacquelyn (Jacquie) Burckley started the doctoral program in 2021 after completing her master's in criminology at the University of South Florida. Her research primarily focuses on special populations including veterans and incarcerated women, aiming to assess the specific risk and protective factors these groups face. At present, she is involved with a program evaluation to reduce the recidivism of formerly incarcerated women; empirical work to analyze the perceptions of sex work and the experiences of sex workers in the age technology; empirical research to assess the needs of veterans with military sexual trauma and PTSD who are at risk for premature mortality; and theoretical work to test the role of perceived marginalization in a legal cynicism framework.
