Dr. YongJei Lee is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Criminology at the University of South Florida. After he received his Master's degree in Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University, he received a Ph. D. in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati in 2017. In 2017, he received a national award from the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) as a winner of the Real-Time Crime Forecasting Challenge. His current research examines place management theory, police effectiveness, spatio-temporal patterns of crime hot spots, crime hot spot forecasting, measures of crime concentration, and machine learning models for recidivism forecasting. His research has recently appeared in the Journal of Quantitative Criminology, Justice Quarterly, Crime and Delinquency, Journal of Experimental Criminology, and Police Quarterly.
