Master of Social Work (MSW) and Master of Public Health concurrent degree student Jacqueline Houston presented research from the USF Social Work Interdisciplinary Research Lab at the American Public Health Association (APHA) Annual Meeting.
Mentored by Associate Professor Manisha Joshi, PhD, MSPH, MSW, Houston shared their research which discussed the association between non-partner sexual violence, childhood and adolescent sexual abuse, forced displacement, and positive childhood experiences in urban Haiti.
Houston’s presentation at the 2024 APHA conference was supported by the Student Honorary Award for Research and Practice and the Maternal and Child Health Scholars program at the College of Public Health. At the APHA meeting, she had the opportunity to network at the interdisciplinary career fair, meet with admissions staff from colleges of public health throughout the country, and join the Family Violence Prevention Caucus.
