12th annual ITRE conference highlights research, collaboration in addressing adolescent substance use

The 12th annual Institute for Translational Research Education in Adolescent Substance Use (ITRE) conference was held April 7-9, bringing together community partners, outgoing scholars, and the newest cohort of graduate students.

This three-day event featured research presentations, roundtable discussions, and collaborative sessions focused on addressing adolescent behavioral health and substance use through translational research.

Graduating scholars presented findings from their year-long research projects conducted in partnership with local community agencies. The conference concluded with an awards ceremony recognizing the outgoing cohort’s contributions, as well as a manuscript session designed to help scholars prepare their research for publication and expand their impact in the field.

The annual conference convenes national and local leaders in implementation science and practice. Presentations spotlight evidence-based research and programs in adolescent behavioral and mental health, substance use, advocacy, and policy change, alongside scholar-led projects conducted in collaboration with community partners.

ITRE is a joint effort between the Department of Child and Family Studies at the University of South Florida (USF) College of Behavioral and Community Sciences, the Center for Health Equity Research at Northern Arizona University, and the USF College of Public Health.
