Chris Groeber received his MSW from the University of Kentucky in 1993. Chris has worked extensively in child welfare for the past 30 years. Professor Groeber aided in the development with Kentucky’s Public Child Welfare Certification program working with Kentucky’s Public Child Welfare Agency to ensure aspiring BSW students had experiences with the agency before working as a public child welfare worker. Professor Groeber has taught extensively in the area of Policy Development and Macro Practice.  He has been the Principal Investigator on one of the Nation’s first Quality Improvement Centers whose focus was frontline supervision in child welfare.

Professor Groeber has held numerous positions in the child welfare arena, most recently as the United States CEO of Key Assets, an international child caring organization. His primary focus was working with traumatized children with profound autism.  Chris has developed businesses and loves the idea of social entrepreneurship.  He has worked in several countries during his tenure including living a year Chelyabinsk, Russia in Siberia.  Professor Groeber’s current interests lie in helping students gain both an appreciation for and understanding of Micro and Macro Social Work Practice and the interplay of social justice.  He believes that self-reflective practice is key to being a solid and just social worker.
