New Information Security Governance, Risk, and Compliance certificate program sees overwhelming response

Within weeks since its announcement, USF’s Office of Corporate Training and Professional Education’s Information Security Governance, Risk, and Compliance certificate program received nearly 4,200 applications. With this enthusiastic response, it’s clear there is a high demand for cybersecurity training.

Program availability:

Priority admission will be offered to 250 Sarasota and Tampa Bay applicants who are active duty military, veterans, or first responders. The first cohort will begin the program on July 8. Given the program’s capacity of 30 learners at any given time, additional seats will be opened periodically over the next few months.

The CTPE team is still reviewing applications, but due to the volume of applicants, interested participants may experience a slight delay in receiving their admissions decisions. They are also exploring opportunities for additional funding to open the program up to more people due to the high-interest level. A waiting list has also been created for those interested in future opportunities.

About the program:

The InfoSec GRC program was designed to address the urgent need for skilled cybersecurity professionals. With the destructive financial impact of data breaches on organizations, the demand for cybersecurity expertise is at an all-time high.

This online program equips entry-level and transitioning professionals with the skills to master the basics of information security, threat identification, risk mitigation, and security risk assessment. The self-paced format allows participants to progress through the program quickly. The final module, the only synchronous segment, must be completed within 60 days of the start date.

The certificate’s comprehensive curriculum provides practical insights through real-world case studies and exercises. With interactive, hands-on labs, participants will learn how to apply their knowledge to authentic scenarios using industry-standard frameworks and practices.

Expert instruction:

Developed in collaboration with industry leaders at CBIZ Pivot Point Security, the program is taught by experts with over 50 years of collective experience in information technology and security. Instructors have diverse professional experience, ranging from positions in the federal government to private industry roles, bringing unique insights for participants to learn from.
