About the Program

The Robert Noyce USF Summer Internship program for undergraduate STEM majors is designed to encourage students to make connections amongst their major, math or science education research, and teaching practices. It seeks to aid in their development as teachers and decision-makers who can use research-based teaching approaches in a classroom setting.

Students participate in an eight-week mentored experience with faculty from the USF's College of Education or College of Arts and Sciences. Additionally, they are paired with a graduate student mentor, to support them throughout the internship.

Selected applicants will contribute to a collaborative four-person cohort. Together, they will learn, build on research skills, formulate research questions and analyze data—all within the
context of teaching children math and science in informal settings. This experience allows for opportunities in both human subject, and qualitative research. Interns will also participate in workshops, and outings aimed at enriching their internship experience.

This summer research experience will conclude with interns presenting their research at a university-wide symposium, showcasing summer undergraduate research experiences.

This program is funded by the National Science Foundation under Grant No. DUE-1439776.
