USF Celebrates Extra Yard for Teachers Week by Honoring a Local Teacher and Hosting a Tailgate

In a heartwarming surprise during the College Football Playoff Foundation's Extra Yard for Teachers Week, the USF College of Education proudly honored Pasco County Teacher of the Year, LeAnne John. She was presented with a $1,000 gift card for Donors Choose and a bundle of exciting USF goodies to celebrate the Big Day for Teachers on Tuesday, September 17.

LeAnne, an agriculture teacher at Zephyrhills High School and USF College of Education alumna, is not just a teacher, but a mentor who dedicates herself to instilling essential industry skills in her students and empowering them to pursue future careers. Her extraordinary efforts extend beyond the classroom and into a school-owned farm where her students gain hands-on experience working with animals.

The College of Education and the USF Education Alumni Society continued its celebration with a tailgate on September 21 before USF hosted Miami in Raymond James Stadium. It celebrated the incredible impact of local teachers on our communities with good food, fun games, and exciting football.
