Dr. Jenifer Neale recently retired after serving as an educator for 38 years with
Hillsborough County Public Schools, one of the largest school districts in the United
States. During her career in public education, Dr. Neale served in many capacities,
always focused on the needs of under-served students. Her school-based roles have
included music specialist, teacher of special needs students, and assistant principal.
District-based roles included Administrator on Special Assignment for School Improvement
and Administrator on Special Assignment for Student Engagement. Dr. Neale’s work in
school improvement included providing opportunities for students attending Title I
schools to engage in additional school time mandated for extra-curricular programs.
Dr. Neale also worked with students who committed egregious behavior infractions.
Every effort was made to keep these students at their school sites, provide wrap-around
services, provide them with a daily check-in mentor, and support them in every way
possible. The focus of meetings regarding these students became equity and how schools
and personnel interacted with students to support them.
Dr. Neale received her Bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and her Master’s
and Doctoral degrees from the University of South Florida. She proudly served as an
adjunct professor at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida, from 2013
– 2020. She is now happy to serve as Visiting Instructor for 2022-2023.
