Today, the University of South Florida is celebrating the birthday of beloved mascot Rocky D. Bull as part of USF Giving Week.
If we go by Rocky’s first official appearance, he’d be turning 60 years old this year! Rocky the Bull got his start as a toy idea for the USF Bookstore in 1965. The first Rocky was drawn as a cartoon rendition for USF Athletics to use in their newsletters.”

USF Bulls Racing: 2025 USF College of Engineering "USF Giving Week" fund
Who We Are
Founded in 2005, Bulls Racing is the Formula Society of Automotive Engineers (FSAE)
team at the University of South Florida. Comprised of students majoring in mechanical
engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, marketing, graphic design and
more, our team volunteers its diverse skills to compete and learn. Bulls Racing offers
students practical experience that complements their academic studies.
What We Do
Throughout the year, Bulls Racing dedicates itself to designing, building and competing
with a new internal combustion car annually, facing off against 120 teams globally.
Our participation in the FSAE challenges students to implement their classroom knowledge
in a practical setting, encompassing finite element analysis, computer-aided design
and manufacturing. Our team members develop both technical and professional skills,
gaining recognition from international companies and securing a competitive advantage
in their careers.
Your Impact
Your support empowers Bulls Racing to maintain its competitive edge, even against
teams with more substantial resources. It helps cultivate skilled engineers and ensures
the longevity of this transformative experience for future students.
