The USF College of Engineering is excited to announce a generous donation of electronic components, including processors, capacitors, resistors, antennas, etc., that will enable USF engineering students to put a system together. The donation was received from Gary Rosenberg, a distinguished engineer with over four decades of experience in the field. His contribution to our engineering students' education will create opportunities for USF students to gain hands-on experience that complements their theoretical studies at the USF College of Engineering.
Gary Rosenberg shared his inspiration for this gift, emphasizing the importance of mentorship and hands-on learning throughout his career. “During my entire career, mentoring the engineering group was a personal priority. In addition to providing insight and guidance, I stressed the efforts and importance of technical lessons learned so they wouldn’t be lost, as I have seen in so many other organizations,” Rosenberg said.
Reflecting on the education and experiences that shaped his career, Gary Rosenberg added, “I was very fortunate that my education was not only technically comprehensive but provided extensive hands-on access to equipment and manufacturing processes as well as an immersive industry internship. My goal with the donation was to provide resources to complement theory with a hands-on opportunity, allowing an engineering student to translate their concept into reality. I hope this donation will make a positive difference and am excited to see the innovations that are created.”
His professional expertise includes:
- Developing and managing new products, including design, material procurement, manufacturing, and qualification testing.
- Serving as a subject matter expert supporting propulsion and airframe original equipment manufacturers.
- Mentoring engineers and providing technical training to support their growth.
A Gift That Inspires
When asked about the impact of his donation, Rosenberg stated, “I hope the materials provided can be put to good use and make a difference.”
The USF College of Engineering is deeply grateful for Gary Rosenberg’s generosity, which will enhance the educational experience for USF Engineering students and help prepare them for real-world challenges in engineering.
