AI Graduate Certificate Program Answers Need For Professionals In All Fields

The University of South Florida's Department of Computer Science and Engineering recognized a coming need for professionals in the area of artifical intelligence across all disciplines.

The need is being filled by participants in the fully online Artificial Intelligence Graduate Certificate program, offered to STEM professionals looking to upskill into the world of AI.

Media attention on the topic of artificial intelligence has increased as the field grows, positioning USF College of Engineering faculty to answer the world's questions about how AI could benefit their everyday lives.

Dr. Larry Hall told ABC Action News it's "interesting" but not surprising "to hear all the people talking about" AI.

"I think that the projections of doomsday are way, way too far out. Both in the sense of very real and not conceivably close at this point in time," Hall told reporter Michael Paluska.

On Bay News 9, reporter Melissa Eichman interviewed Dr. Sudeep Sarkar about the AI certificate program and what it means for computing professionals.

"They would have a deeper understanding of the technology, they’ll demystify the technology, they will know its limitations and use it in a way that’s beneficial to the society," Sarkar said.
