Glenn Whichard
Adjunct Professor
Glenn Whichard utilizes his extensive industrial and academic experiences in his teaching. In addition to teaching in the Muma College of Business, Center for Entrepreneurship at USF, he is an instructor for the USF I-Corps site and USF I-Corps Student Innovation Incubator programs. I-Corps is a National Science Foundation funded program that provides additional support to researchers in the form of entrepreneurial training and funding to help determine the readiness to transition a technology from the lab to commercial products. Previously in his academic career, he worked in Technology Transfer at the University of South Florida and Utah State University. This included identifying Intellectual Property (IP) created in research labs, managing IP protection (patents, copyrights, trademarks), marketing IP, drafting IP license agreements, assisting in the formation of startup companies based on University IP, and managing IP license agreements.
Prior to his work in academia, he was a government contractor in Washington, DC working on technology evaluation projects for DOD and energy saving projects for DOE, in addition to spending some time as a patent examiner. Earlier in his career he worked as a Product and Quality Manager at Praxair Surface Technologies, Inc. where he managed a team that developed new products to meet the needs of customers.
Glenn earned his PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from Vanderbilt University and his MBA from Indiana University. He has a MS degree from the Missouri University of Science and Technology and a BS degree from Alfred University.
