How to qualify for a Tuition Deferment
To qualify for an automatic deferment, you must be eligible to receive financial aid (including student loans) and/or scholarships. Deferments are automatically posted on Student Self-Service if you:
- Have scholarships (including Bright Futures), or;
- Have a FAFSA showing on Student Self-Service, and;
- Are a degree seeking student, and;
- Are enrolled at least half-time in USF classes at your grade level and;
- Are meeting satisfactory academic progress (SAP) requirements (if your current SAP status is warning or probation, you will not be considered for a deferment until after the current term grades are included in your SAP calculation).
Check Student Self-Service two weeks prior to and during the first week of the semester to see if you qualify
- Select Financial Aid
- You will see a message indicating your deferment approval
- Your bill will be due by the expiration date listed unless your aid has already paid your bill
