BIOGRAPHY:
Carolyne Davidson is the Associate Dean of Outreach and Administration at National Defense University’s
College of International Security Affairs (CISA) where she leads the Joint Special
Operations Master of Arts (JSOMA) program at Ft. Liberty, North Carolina. Carolyne
is a historian whose academic interests focus on alliances, multilateralism, Cold
War history, and American foreign relations. Her current research looks at the concept
of irregular warfare and the role of special operations forces, as well as facets
of Cold War history relevant to today's policy approaches to strategic competition
in the US and in Europe.
Carolyne founded the Irregular Warfare Forum in 2021 in collaboration with the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School. The Forum meets bi-annually, bringing together practitioners and researchers to discuss issues relevant to regional and functional approaches to IW. Before joining JSOMA, Carolyne held fellowships at the Brookings Institution, Sciences-Po, and George Washington University. She graduated from Clare College, Cambridge was awarded the Paul Mellon Fellowship to Yale University, where she completed her graduate studies with degrees in international relations, law, and history.
