As the former commander of United States Central Command, whose Area of Responsibility includes the greater Middle East, GNSI Executive Director, retired Marine Corps general Frank McKenzie, has the necessary experience and insight to advise current and future leaders on how to best deal with Iran.
McKenzie is a founding board member of the advisory committee for the Iran Strategy Project, an initiative created in 2022 by the Atlantic Council, a nonpartisan organization that galvanizes U.S. leadership and engagement in the
world, in partnership with allies and partners, to shape solutions to global challenges.
The ISP’s “The Future of U.S. Strategy Toward Iran: A Bipartisan Roadmap for the Next Administration” report was recently released. McKenzie was interviewed for the report and was cited
on several other occasions, including for his Guest Commentary published in the Wall Street Journal in January 2024, as well as his statement submitted to the Office of Director of National Intelligence in 2022.
Congress needs to play a leading role in helping to forge bipartisanship on Iran policy. A good model is the US House of Representatives Select Committee on the Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party.
The Future of US Strategy Toward Iran Report
You can watch the launch event here.

in which the United States works patiently and resolutely to counter Iranian efforts
to drive the United States out of the Middle East…”
