The national organization represents certified nurse-midwives (CNM) and certified midwives (CM) nationwide. The ACNM sets the standard for excellence in midwifery education and practice in the country and strengthens the capacity of midwives in developing countries.

Dr. Brumley served as ACNM vice president for three years and then was elected and served as president-elect for a year. She has also served as the Tampa chapter chair, Florida affiliate president, and chaired numerous national committees.

“It is truly and honor and privilege to have been elected by my peers to serve as President of the American College of Nurse Midwives.  This is the culmination of service to the organization at every level.  A variety of factors not limited to the COVID 19 pandemic and changes in attitudes regarding the value of membership to one’s professional organization have made this a difficult time for many professional membership organizations and ACNM is not excluded. It is not only a privilege but also a great responsibility to lead during this time.  I look forward to working to strengthen, grow and diversify ACNM and Midwifery,” Dr. Brumley said.

From Judette Louis, MD, MPH, professor and chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine:

“Dr. Brumley has always led the USF Midwifery Division with passion and intention.  She is thoughtful and innovative.  As such, I am confident that she will make significant contributions to the nurse-midwifery profession and her leadership will be transformative for ACNM.”
