Nishit Patel, MD, FAAD, professor and associate residency program director for the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine (MCOM), was recently named to the Tampa Bay Business Journal’s 40 Under 40. Dr. Patel is also the vice president of medical informatics for USF Tampa General Physicians, and vice president and chief medical informatics officer at Tampa General Hospital (TGH).
Dr. Patel, an MCOM class of 2010 alumnus, plays a critical role in developing and implementing information technology and informatics initiatives at TGH to optimize clinical quality and patient safety. He is board certified in dermatology and clinical informatics. He helps health care teams recognize areas where improvements can be made in how patient care is delivered. He played an integral role in TGH and USF Health’s efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic by deploying a telehealth strategy throughout the academic medical center.
“40 Under 40 remains the Business Journal’s most competitive recognition program. Once again, nearly 600 nominations were received, culminating in the compilation of over 300 application packets with thousands of pages of submission materials for our judging panel to review,” said Ian Anderson, Business Journal market president and publisher. “While the selection process is not an exact science, the core focus of the Business Journal judges continues to be on a nominee’s sphere of influence and measurable impact within their industry and in our community.”
This is Dr. Patel’s second major recognition in the last nine months. In December 2023, he was named to the Becker’s Hospital Review of Top CMIOs and CNIOs to Know in 2023, a leading source of hospital business news and analysis for the health care industry.
