Course Enhancement with Generative AI
In this fully online, self-paced workshop, offered free through the University of South Florida, participants will explore a series of generative AI (GenAI) use case tutorials, interact with peers, and gain hands-on experience with prompting through a variety of GenAI platforms in the context of teaching and learning. Participants ultimately construct their own GenAI course enhancement plan to implement immediately in their courses.
Who should take this course:
This workshop is designed for higher education faculty but anyone in a teaching, training, and/or learning design role may benefit from learning how to leverage Generative AI (GenAI) to save time, optimize communication, and enhance aspects of their courses.
Workshop Outcomes & Skills:
- Work within GenAI platform(s) and use prompt engineering to create four unique GenAI course enhancement plans (course preparation, assessment, content, and feedback).
- Review "use case tutorials" to determine and prescribe specific enhancement strategies for course preparation, assessment, content, and feedback.
- Collaborate with peers through interactive discussions dedicated feedback and knowledge sharing .
- Create a “Comprehensive GenAI Course Enhancement and Application Plan” to inform and guide the enhancement of your course(s) with GenAI.
- Complete the "reflection summary" confirming how you employed GenAI to enhance your course.

How do I earn the badge/digital credential?
USF is pleased to offer an official, Credly-backed digital credential, the Course
Enhancement with GenAI badge available for purchase for $49 upon completion of the
workshop. Eligibility for the badge requires that participants complete all required
workshop assignments. Upon completion, participants will be provided with access to
purchase their badge. The Credly site is separate from the Canvas learning management
system and requires participants to create a separate login. Instructions for this
are all provided within the workshop, but you can watch this video for more information.
What is the value of the badge/digital crential?
The digital badge is your opportunity to invest in your own skill set while also contributing
to your professional story. It provides tangible evidence of your experience leveraging
GenAI and signifies the completion and creation of plans detailing how you have conceptualized
the practical use of GenAI. You can showcase your badge within professional platforms
(e.g., LinkedIn), CV, and your portfolio.
Are there any restrictions for the badge?
Please note that individuals from countries listed under U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) are ineligible to participate in the course.
