ABOUT MY RESEARCH

My primary research interests are how physical or environmental factors influence biological trends, especially across large scales. My undergraduate research at Temple University in Philadelphia focused on how nonnative species get transported between ports via fouling organisms on the hulls of boats. At CMS I will be working in the Optical Oceanography Lab with Dr. Chuanmin Hu using light to understand large-scale changes in marine ecosystems.

Why USF CMS?

I value a dedication to interdisciplinary research as my interests require me to straddle multiple subject areas to effectively progress. CMS not only has the dedication, but the academic and technical infrastructure to support this kind of interdisciplinary research. This is especially the case with my major professor, Dr. Chuanmin Hu, as his Optical Oceanography Lab covers several research areas across physical and biological oceanography. Working directly with people across multiple specialties allows me to efficiently learn and work throughout those disciplines.
