SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO – Six fellow graduate students and I just wrapped up our second day at the 2019 Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography (ASLO) conference here in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Today was a busy day. This morning, I presented my talk titled, “Zooplankton Community Structure in the NE Gulf of Mexico Before and After the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill.” This evening, both Ellie Hudson-Heck and Katelyn Schockman presented their research during the poster session. Yesterday, Shannon Burns and Adrienne Hollister gave awesome talks, and tomorrow Benjamin Ross and Jonathan Sharp are slated to present their talks.
ASLO has a great variety of workshops which we have all taken the opportunity to attend and met a number of new people by doing so. We’re looking forward to hitting the beach during the ASLO coastal clean-up on Thursday! Conferences are a great collaborative space that bring researchers from a variety of fields and experiences together and we’re looking forward to meeting others throughout the rest of our conference week.
