Overview
Our research portfolio encompasses a variety of disciplines. We work in our own backyards in Tampa Bay and
the Gulf of Mexico to the far reaches of Antarctica -- and prize a multidisciplinary
approach to addressing the challenges that face our blue planet. Core study areas
include biological oceanography, geological oceanography, chemical oceanography, physical
oceanography, and marine resource assessment (MRA).
We are committed to the power of partnerships. St. Petersburg has a supportive and vibrant business and innovation community and
is a significant hub of marine science expertise, including the USGS St. Petersburg
Coastal and Marine Science Center, the NOAA National Marine Fisheries Service, the
Fish and Wildlife Research Institute, the Florida Institute of Oceanography, SRI International,
the Tampa Bay Estuary Program, and the US Coast Guard.
