Fond Farewell to Joe Hice, VP for University Communications and Marketing

Dear USF Community,

Earlier this month, Joe Hice, Vice President for University Communications and Marketing (UCM), announced his decision to retire from the University of South Florida, effective January 1, 2021.

Over the past several years, USF has made great strides in advancing its reputation nationally and beyond. Across the higher education landscape, we are recognized as America’s fastest-rising university, an accolade that continues to help us attract top talent and fulfill our role as a leading public research university. Thanks to Joe’s leadership, the UCM team has helped create, share and build on these strengths, well-positioning USF to continue to increase our institutional visibility and strong brand recognition.

I wish to thank Joe for his service to USF and congratulate him on an impressive career in marketing and communications that spans numerous national organizations over the past 40 years. His contributions have made a lasting impact on those organizations and his colleagues, and to the state of Florida.

During the spring, I will begin a national search for the Vice President of University Communications and Marketing. I have appointed Kim Hill, Assistant Vice President for Communications and Public Relations, as interim Vice President for Communications and Marketing. Kim will begin the Interim Vice President role on January 1st.

Please join me in wishing Joe all the best!

President Currall
