Celebrating 30 years of the USF Latino Scholarship Program at USF
Founded in 1992 by generous members of the Latino community, the Latino Scholarship Program creates pathways to higher education for Latinx students and provides them with tools for success upon graduation. Since its inception, LSP has awarded more than $4.2 million to over 600 graduates. With nearly 70 endowed and annual scholarships, the program currently supports more than 40 new and 100 returning students.

Smithsonian curates history of hip-hop and rap with help from USF communications expert
Aisha Durham, associate professor of communications at the University of South Florida, was part of a group of advisers chosen by the Smithsonian Institution to curate its first multimedia hip-hop collection. The recently released Smithsonian Anthology of Hip-Hop and Rap chronicles 40 years of hip-hop and rap music and the development of the localized culture as it emerged out of the Bronx into a global sensation.

2021 Peace Corps Prep rankings released
The Peace Corps announced today that the University of South Florida ranked No. 2 among schools on the agency’s list of top Peace Corps Prep certificate-issuing partners in 2021. USF issued 58 Peace Corps Prep certificates to the graduating class of 2021. There were 250 students enrolled in USF’s Peace Corps Prep program during the 2020–21 academic year.

USF receives $1.2 million gift to expand assistance to students with intellectual disabilities
The University of South Florida today announced a $1.2 million gift from Andrew and Eileen Hafer to benefit UMatter, an innovative, inclusive postsecondary education program in the USF College of Education created to provide young people with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to experience higher education and campus life.

USF construction sites inspire interactive classroom experience
USF is taking advantage of some of its current construction projects to offer students who are interested in architecture and engineering a unique interdisciplinary learning opportunity. Students are guided through site tours and interactive sessions for the future homes of the Judy Genshaft Honors College, the Athletics Indoor Performance Facility and the Student Wellness Center.

Esports enhances its visibility at USF
USF Esports will soon have a physical presence on the Tampa campus. Located inside the Recreation and Wellness Center, the 2,500-square-foot Esports Living Lab will feature 40 PCs and will be divided into spaces for casual gaming and watch parties, content creation and competitive gaming.
