New research finds the iStride device improves gait speed and symmetry within one week of use. Its success inspired a stroke patient to fly in from Mexico for therapy. She’s now climbing stairs, dancing and taking walks with friends.

USF and Rapid7 to launch cyber training initiative through $1.5 million federal grant
The Rapid7 Cyber Threat Intelligence Lab at USF has secured its largest federal investment since its launch earlier this year. The Office of Naval Research and the National Science Foundation awarded USF and Rapid7, a leader in cloud risk and threat detection, a $1.5 million grant to conduct research into effective ways for training cyber operators.

Following commercialization, USF tech provides sanitation to South Africa
The solar-powered NEWgenerator provides off-grid sanitation technology and generates nutrients, energy and water by safely recovering them from human wastewater. It’s the first unit to be manufactured since the USF Technology Transfer Office signed a licensing agreement in 2020.

USF to rapidly develop technologies for the military with new cutting-edge lab
The Rapid Experimentation Lab, managed by the USF Institute of Applied Engineering, puts engineers with different areas of expertise in the same room, dramatically reducing the amount of time it typically takes to build a prototype. It’s part of a five-year, $85 million contract with U.S. Special Operations Command, headquartered at MacDill Air Force Base.
