Athletics District Grounds Superintendent

This position assists in the day to day operations and management of the grounds crew to ensure the quality and condition of all turf within the Athletics Sports District.

About the Role

Responsibilities

  • Assists Manager of Athletics Grounds in the day to day operation and management of the grounds crew, including but not limited to the following: mowing, painting, infield maintenance and mound/home plate repair.
  • Responsible for providing specific direction to the grounds crew or temporary employees regarding work performed and the timeliness of completion.
  • Oversees the field maintenance and detailing activities of grounds crew as well as performing landscaping duties.
  • Assumes the responsibility for the entire turf operation in the Manager of Athletics Fields absence.
  • Coordinates preventative maintenance program for turf, turf equipment, mowing, watering, pesticides and fertilizer schedules.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of the proper IPM practices, turf fertility programs, irrigation management for each USF Athletics Facility and overall annual budget.
  • Concentration on assigned area management during NCAA baseball/softball season and for all other intercollegiate athletic events.
  • Performs other related duties and/or projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • The position requires master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience and valid Florida driver's license.
  • Directly related career experience may be substituted for the degree
  • requirements on a year for year basis.
