Awa Ndiaye is a senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. During her time at USF, she has studied abroad as part of the USF in London program.
While reflecting on her time abroad, Awa shared that she developed a new appreciation for the arts through the places she was able to visit. She feels that all of her experiences abroad have helped her create a sense of global community, “Although I had grown a passion for global citizenship, one of the group projects we completed while in London, which was aimed at serving the local community, made me realize that as a global citizen, I had a responsibility to serve those around me, wherever I might be in the world.”
After graduating this May, Awa will be attending Oxford University to earn a master’s degree in the United Kingdom. She was awarded the only Oxford-Allan and Nesta Ferguson African Graduate Scholarship that the university offered.
She offers a bit of advice to anyone considering education abroad, “As an international student here at USF, and as someone who has also taken part in a study abroad experience, I think it can be a life-changing experience. To students considering studying abroad, I would say: don't hesitate! And, remember to pack curiosity and an open mind."
