On August 25, incoming Fulbright and visiting scholars were warmly welcomed at a reception hosted by USF World, the Judy Genshaft Honors College, and the Mid-Florida Chapter of the Fulbright Association. Nearly 100 guests registered representing over two dozen different countries.
Attendees enjoyed an excellent networking event which yielded many great connections between visiting scholars, past and present USF faculty Fulbright awardees, students and members of the Central Florida and Tampa Bay international communities.
Attendees enjoyed an excellent networking event which yielded many great connections between visiting scholars, past and present USF faculty Fulbright awardees, students and members of the Central Florida and Tampa Bay international communities.
The theme was “Here, There, Everywhere, All at Once.” Visiting scholars came here to learn from local experts on the history and uniqueness of the Tampa Bay area. There was represented by several cultural displays created by scholars, and everywhere, all at once highlighted the goal of building community and networking with globally-focused colleagues living in the mid-Florida Region.
Highlights included remarks from Dr. Kiki Caruson, Vice President of USF World, Dr. Sayandeb Basu, Director of the Office of National Scholars representing the Judy Genshaft Honors College and an overview of the Tampa Bay History Center from Mr. Rodney Kite-Powell, Director of the Touchton Map Library. The full program, including speakers representing the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute can be found here. On the last page of the program, you will find information on upcoming events for the Mid-Florida Chapter of the Fulbright Association and for visiting scholars at USF.
