After studying across the globe, over seventy-five students came together on a Saturday to be inducted into the GloBull Ambassador Program here at USF. The Program is committed to providing opportunities for professional development, networking marketing, leadership and mentorship. “I recommend that everyone studies abroad while in college,” Emma Bullian says. “Going abroad with USF allows for a safe and structured environment to explore the world.” Bullian is a student in the history department who did a USF in Honors program in Germany.
The GloBull Ambassador Program is independently managed by students under the guidance of the EAO Student Support and Outreach team. Students receive mentorship and maintain regular communication with staff from USF World. The office has an amazing and comprehensive team of professionals—with personal study abroad experience—that are committed to helping Bulls have enriching experiences across the world. The mission of the Education Abroad Office is to cultivate global competency and give students the opportunity to have their own life-changing experience abroad.
“I was able to study abroad because of a scholarship,” Student Samatha W. says, an anthropology student that studied abroad in Nice, France. “I want to help other students learn about the scholarships available to them.” Student staff work alongside the EAO staff, giving students the information and resources they need to successfully study abroad. The GloBull Ambassador Program offers returning study abroad students the opportunity to leverage and refine the skills they acquired while studying abroad and channel them into preparation for graduate school and global careers.
The GloBull Ambassador Program focuses on finding innovative ways to promote the benefits of studying abroad to ALL students. It consists of five committees; each designed to highlight students' strengths and provide opportunities for them to creatively connect with peers across campus and share their study abroad stories.
This introductory event was informative, inspiring, preparing these students to join the committee that would utilize their skills, with team-building exercises designed to give them the confidence to go out and be a GloBull Ambassador. The committees include Marketing, Professional Development, Scholarship, Diversity, and Outreach. To graduate as a GloBull Ambassador, and earn the GBA graduate stole, students need to study abroad, join the program, commit to 40 hours of service and be an advocate for study abroad at USF. Their legacy is the impact they make on the next generation of Bulls going abroad!
