The 6th annual Campus Safety Day was held across all three campuses on October 19. Hosted by Emergency Management and University Police, this event provides an opportunity for members of the USF community to come together and learn important information related to their personal safety, both on and off campus.
Live demonstrations, such as fire extinguisher and K-9 demonstrations, along with a variety of safety education opportunities were offered to attendees. Resources and information were given by staffed tables, which featured on-campus organizations and departments, such as SAFE Team, Student Health Services, Emergency Management, Environmental Health & Safety, and University Police, as well as off campus organizations and agencies, such as local law enforcement, Bike and Walk Tampa Bay, and Hillsborough County Anti-Drug Alliance. The staff at these tables provided giveaway items, answered questions attendees had, and spoke about their work.
Environmental Health and Safety provided fire extinguisher training at the event. Participants were shown how to use the extinguisher and the proper technique when putting out a fire.
Increasing students’ awareness of potential risks and making sure they have access to tools that can help them stay safe is an essential part of college preparation. Thank you to everyone who attended this year’s Campus Safety Day Event!
