The Puerto Rican Post-Disaster Migration Project

The Puerto Rican Post-disaster Migration Project title

The Puerto Rican Post-disaster Migration Project is a research study conducted by researchers at the University of South Florida (USF) in collaboration with the organization Mujeres Restauradas por Dios and supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF).

The study collected stories about the experiences of Puerto Ricans who migrated to the United States after Hurricanes Irma and Maria in order to understand the challenges and/or opportunities this community faced since they arrived to Central Florida. The goal of the project is to share the insights of its findings with policymakers, advocates, teachers, counselors, and community members in an effort to help improve the well-being of post-disaster migrants.
